**Q: does it insulate the taped surface against heat.... in other words if I wrap a cord that is near a high heat grill, will the cord be**
A: Yes, that should work.  The tape has a thin layer of what looks like Fiberglas woven into it so it acts as a thermal break to either side.

**Q: I have a plastic valve cover on a tractor with the muffler about an inch from on the valve cover would the adhesive stick and stay on the valve cover**
A: Not sure because oily film  associated  with a valve cover. Maybe  if you super clean the area it might stick.  There are other types of heat shields  on the market,  you just have to search for them that will work for your application.

**Q: what is the r value?**
A: If I had the package I might be able to tell you (at least whether or not that info was listed).   I have a header on my transverse mounted four banger (header faces forward) so I use this stuff to wrap wires and hoses, etc.  Getting it to stick well can be tricky.  I use stainless zip ties as needed.   It does provide the necessary thermal protection.  On a funny car I might look for a different product.

**Q: I am looking for a heat resistant wire rat that will help prevent rats from chewing through the wires on my 2008 Toyota Tundra.  Will this help?**
A: Rats love wiring, this may help but extermination is best. Rats will chew thru anything.
