VOC's are removed in the distilling process. **Q: So you have to perfectly align the spigot with the lip of the pitcher? Meaning if a roommate disturbs it, there's a gallon of hot water spewing?** A: The alignment doesn't have to be perfect, but reasonably close. If you or your roommate do not get it properly aligned, you could end up with as much as a gallon of warm water on the floor/counter/wherever you place it to run, but that will be over the course of 4 hours, so if you check on it occasionally, you will be able to notice the problem and fix it before it gets too out-of-hand. **Q: Is the water coming out of the filter supposed to be very hot** A: I have found that the water comes out at room temperature. We drink some immediately and it is a nice temperature . I don’t like warm water. My old waterwise left the collection container warm. So the newer condensing coil really cools it.
