We used to own one of those acrylic "twist" types. Worked well for many years but eventually one of the teeth broke. What I liked about this press here is how it minced the garlic. The twist model would sometimes leave bigger chunks. Overall I prefer minced, so this did well for that.As the garlic would press out of the bottom, it was very easy to slide a toothpick across it to scrape it off into a bowl. That same toothpick made getting all the bits out from inside the bowl area easy as well.I suggest rinsing or soaking the press immediately after you are done...we all know garlic can freeze up pretty quick, which would make cleanup hard in this case. But even if a few holes were clogged, you still had your handy toothpick.The issue we had was that after less than 6 months of use, the inside "metallic" coating of the barrel itself began to peel. I contacted the seller to make them aware. They were responsive, and it should be noted that they refunded the purchase. I did not ask them to do this, so I give them credit for that.If Amazon allowed it I would give this 3.5 stars, but given what happened I cannot award 4 stars for this. Hopefully it was just a fluke. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Why have I been chopping garlic manually all these years? *by H***W on Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2019* My cousin was complaining that we didn’t have a garlic press when she was helping us make dinner one night and she had to chop the garlic, so I found this on Amazon and got it within 2 days! Where has this been all my life? It works great and finely minces the garlic. An added bonus is that it also comes with a sleeve that peels the garlic easy peasy which was a nice surprise! This is easy to use and also very easy to clean. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not what I expected *by ****V on Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2019* I've used plastic pressers in the past, but I think I'll stick to this style of steel crushers as they extract much more garlic and juice than I could have expected. Even when using this with older garlic cloves, I was able to get nearly all of the garlic clove presses and "minced" The end result of the pressing was twofold, the first being mushy garlic and dripping juices while the second was the remaining skin of the pieces in the press. I was able to easily crush about 4 full cloves with no issues, though the cleaning of the press was the hardest thing for me as the residual pieces out of the strainer section, especially with the poorly made included cleaning brush; the fibers began to fray almost immediately.
