Merino wool does a great job of pushing moisture away from your skin so that you remain dry.  Merino has the ability to absorb over 25% of your body's moisture and still feel dry and warm as opposed to polyesters which will wet out and chill at 5-10%.  Hunters and fishermen already know much about Merino wool and its many benefits - including silence on the move, scent deterrence, and warmth when wet.
