She was able to name it and feed it, clean up after it, and play with it. When you first setup the toy, you are asked to set the time. It is very important that the time is accurate. If you set it for 1am when it is 1pm, your pet will sleep all the time. I experienced this with my sons dinosaur gigapet. The toy comes with instructions. Make sure you read those, if I had have read them I would have known that about the time.

I ordered the unicorn for myself and the dog for my son. I was so excited to see they had come out with these again as they were my favorite back growing up. Out of the box the dog worked, the unicorn did not. I returned and got another. The 2nd unicorn did work... for about 2 weeks. The dog my son had also worked for about 2 weeks. Then it randomly reset itself, and when we tried to start them up again it just continued to reset themselves, in a loop. So we just popped the batteries out and tossed them. I'll not order another.
