The old water heater was 20+ years old and worked better than the new replacement. I contacted tech support ~3 times a week, every week, as the water heater got progressively worse. The pilot would not stay lit, and it has ended with me having to stand at the pilot with a lighter for 30 minutes while it heats the tank. Everytime I called Atwood, they are trained to take no responsibility and EVERY TIME I was told that the wind was either blowing it out or there is something wrong with my gas lines. After taking all their advice and replacing gas supplies (which I should have known better since most of my appliances run off of gas, and I had no issues with any of them), the water heater is still not working properly. Finally today, I decided to ask to speak to a manager. She was just as rude as all of their employees in their tech support. She finally told me that they would compensate me the repair if I took the RV to the dealer (not just any dealer I suspect), and have them inspect and can verify that it was an issue with a part under warranty (2 year warranty). This water heater was purchased last summer, so its still "covered". I am a full time RVer so I can't afford to move out of my home while I take it to get repaired, and hope they pay me back for the repair. I guess this is how all warranties work - it's not worth the hassle and you end up not saving any money. ### ⭐ 1 month of faithful service! Then dead. Useless warranty. *by W***K on Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2018* Worked flawlessly...for about a month. Then it stopped. Basically after lighting the pilot light now, it cuts off when when switched to 'on'. Called Atwood for some advice, which they provided plenty of (laced with healthy does of sarcasm). Unfortunately none it applies to a unit that hasn't even been in service for a month. I got such gems as "check for a bees nest", or a vague "it might need a cleaning". A unit that needs monthly servicing isn't one I care to own. The other obvious option is something malfunctioned, but they didn't seem to be interested in entertaining that thought.Bonus - Atwood's warranty is essentially useless. They will only honor it if you bring the unit (installed) to one of their approved service locations. For a sub-$300 water heater, it's hardly worth the time and effort. Easier to just return it and go with another vendor. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Replacement for the original unit *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2016* It was a perfect replacement for a heater that was split wide open due to freezing when it was not properly drained or winterized. Everything lined up with not problem. The LP line the water inlet and outlet lines were spot on and made it easy to hook up. It came with a new door and hinge assembly. I especially like the Atwood water heaters since they have aluminum tanks that do not requite the use of an anode rod like the steel tanks. I also ordered a role of butyl tape to seal the flange before applying a layer of caulk. It started right up after I purged the LP lines. I needed to make a slight adjustment to obtain a better fuel mixture.
