It also keeps my cone filter clean during normal driving, but the hydrophobic protection is why it should be purchased. Installation was easy, and I will inspect it every few months. I have heard that the hydrophobic coating wears off after a few months. That seems reasonable. If I have to buy 1 every 6 months, I won't be disappointed. After all, the goal here is to protect my engine from hydrolocking. So far so good!
