Then after doing some research (because I didn’t want to deal with returning it if I didn’t have to) I found that if you put the heater under or near the water filter/ air pump it will keep the tank warmer. I got Dingus from Meijer on impulse... he just stood out and I fell in love. So, knowing nothing about betta fish I took him home, put him in a 1 gal tank and fed him cheapo fish flakes. He kinda just hung out in the back for a day and I got worried. Did some extensive fish research and decided I'm a TERRIBLE mother. So I decided to upgrade.Little Dingus is so much happier with this heater. Keeps the tank at a perfect, consistent temp. He was also hardly eating and I got him the Hikari pellet food which he also loves! Now he's begging for food and swimming around like crazy! He follows my finger when I touch the glass and says hello when I sit by him.
