It sticks down so that the keyboard sits at a very slight angle. This is actually a positive in my book. Kind of makes it like my old Toshiba that had little feet you could fold out to accomplish the same thing. Not as much angle as a cooling pad might offer but, still, I think it's a bonus that it gets the bottom of the laptop off the desk allowing air flow underneath. Lasts at least 3 hours, anyhow, when using the computer unplugged. Anything is better that the computer dying every time the laptop gets unplugged intentionally or unintentionally. Very happy with purchase price. The performance is satisfactory. Arrived on time as well.Update. it's now spring of 2020 (the infamous year of Covid-19) and it still works great.
