While it might not pass for the real thing, it (at least the black one I got) looks impressively close. Padded, matte finish, good stitching and zippers. Just gives off a feeling of quality, not “I was too cheap to buy real leather”. Holds even my larger pens without restricting closing. The elastic holding loops are strong, so only reco would be not to use with vintage pens that have side levers or potentially less sturdy clips and cap rings.
