You must upgrade it to the 6300v2 firmware though to warrant the purchase. I never tried the original firmware as everyone claims it strangles the router speed and makes it unreliable. I've owned this router for the past month and it has been rock solid from day 1 without any issues.I am hesitant about refurbished products in general, but saw everyone raving about this router and claiming that is it really a new router that Costco has decided to return in bulk due to numerous returns on unreliability. That unreliability issue is really due to the crappy firmware that Netgear installed on this model to cripple the speed compared to the 6300 as both are identical in hardware specs.I had a two year old TP-Link router that was starting to act like it would bite the dust soon, so I was proactive in researching new routers. I wanted an AC router as my family has the newest Galaxy phones that we use at home often and the old one was only dual-band N750. What a difference in speed, reliability and range! This router's 5ghz range covers my entire 2,000 sqft house with FULL bars on each device. It also improved my 2.4ghz speed from 300MB to 450MB for more bandwidth there. We are a cord-cutting family that streams everything and my old modem would choke on more than a few items, but this thing doesn't miss a beat. Actually my Internet speed increased overall as well, but I count that to coincidence as they posted our speeds are improving at the same price category later that week.Don't hesitate to purchase this router today! It is the exact equivalent of the 6300v2 model that is more than twice the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great changing tent! *by G***L on November 28, 2017* Great item! I sell LuLaRoe clothing and use it as a changing tent at vendor events. Unlike those tiny popup tents that everyone complains about, this one has tons of room, both height and width wise for customers to change in. Although I was able to set it up on my own, it is definitely easier when you have 2 people to do it. If it's windy though, be sure to weight it down or drive in some posts because it will fall over. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ TLDR: I like it. *by C***R on April 24, 2015* Only time will tell. Routers are fickle creatures, they work great week one and fall apart 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, in some cases 3 days down the line. I've only had this up and running for less than a day, but so far so good, I'll be sure to update as I determine the reliability. Why I'm happy with it so far: Well I was running TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND and it was doing its job, it ran flawlessly for about 2 years then started to need a reset every 3 or 4 days until I installed dd-wrt and it only needed a reboot every 2 weeks or so. Anyways, I have a 30/30 connection but run a PIA vpn via the router, the TP link was getting bogged down and only getting 6 down/5 up (ouch!). I researched the routers with more capable hardware like the blackhawk, the asus's ac66u, the ac68u and the newer TP-Links (c7,c8,c9) and I came up with the following conclusions. The Blackhawk is the most powerful, but also the most expensive, pia vpn doesn't play well with its firmware and flashing dd-wrt sounds like a pain in the rear, costcos version isn't even capable of dd-wrt. The asus's sounded pretty solid, the 66 is underpowered but the 68 sounded like a contender. Able to flash dd-wrt without much fuss and powerful enough to handle the vpn... $180? are you kidding me? Sorry, but I'm not willing to shell out that kind of money. With TP-Link's C series the hardware sounded good, price was good, no dd-wrt support and no PIA vpn ability means its not even an option for me. Refurb? We talking bout refurb? I don't think I've ever seen a refurb with such a high amazon rating, well with good reason. With (KONG's) DD-wrt, not only is flashing super simple, but you also have the option of going to ac1750 firmware which I hear is quite stable. Not only that, my wifi signal improved for all my devices, I had to handle the vpn slightly differently but got it working in less than an hour and got speeds of 26/20 which is a massive improvement from my old tp-link and comparable to speeds running direct from the PIA software, heck it was comparable to speeds with no vpn. I might just buy another one...
