But the "new" guitar just didn't have the tone I recalled from the earlier guitar, with big bass and bright, silky highs. No matter the strings, I was disappointed.When I heard about the release of Red strings, and their claims to provide full bass along with crystal highs. Given the low price, I couldn't not try them out. :) And they deliver everything they claim and then some. They also hold up extremely well, only dulling slightly as they aged and picked up oils and dirt from my left hand.I couldn't be happier! Low price, full sound, long-lasting. The Red's are good though, very mellow sounding, but full sounding at the same time. I'm a professional musician, and since 2011, I have performed exclusively with RED strings. This year, I noticed a difference in the quality. Three sets had bad G strings. The strings were dead and buzzy. I thought it was my guitar, did a truss rod adjustment, checked the braces with an inspection mirror, then tried a G string from a set of Martin strings and it sounded fine. I ended up throwing away four sets of RED strings at about $12 a set. I called the RED string company and they said they were aware of the problem and working to fix it. They also promised to send replacement sets for the bad ones. Guess what? I'm still waiting for those replacement strings. I don't expect to see them anytime soon.
