His issue is more that the area between the arch of his foot and the laces of the shoe is larger or taller than average feet - I'm not sure how better to describe this. We have a really hard time finding shoes that fit and cleats are even worse. We are happy with the width of these cleats, but he thinks the area under the ball of his foot is uncomfortable.
