The ballooning effect really makes things difficult. I can't seem to ever get enough air out the bag to allow a consistent squeeze of icing. More recently I was working with piping out churros and the bag ripped a seam. I officially hate these bags. I hate the idea of going to disposable bags, but they seem like the best option in terms of performance. I have yet to find a reusable style that won't eventually grease up after use.*********After a few years of exclusively using the plastic coated types, I've happily moved on to silicon. These are super easy to clean, which was my biggest concern. I like that I can drop in my decorative tips with no coupler, and I like the textured outside which does offer a little extra grip. The best part is these don't seep, weep, or get greasy like the plastic coated fabric type pastry bags. The only draw back I can mention is these are a little harder to squeeze air out of. They are basically like balloons, and occasionally get air pockets trapped inside. That can be a real bummer when you're in the middle of a cupcake decorating streak. My advice is to purchase the larger bags. Don't fill them all the way, and squeeze as much air out as you can. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My first silicone bag *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2013* I bought this along with Fat Daddio's 4 piece Coupler set, and Fat Daddio's 60- Piece polycarbonate Master Pastry Tube Set. Before this I had used disposable bags. It felt so wasteful, and I often ran out of bags. I have used this for buttercream, merinque, and melted chocolate. It has worked very well for all but the thickest of frostings. When the frosting is thick and stiff, sometimes the bag wants to stretch instead of releasing the product. But even when it stretches the coupler stays in place. Besides the stretching I find cleaning the bags a bit difficult. They won't stay in place in the dishwasher, and when I hand clean them after buttercream they still don't feel "clean". I still use disposable bags from time to time, but I bought two of these and they are my go to bag. I would say I am very happy, and would recommend it.
