I bought this vein finder in hopes to improve my iv success rate. I've used more expensive ones when I taught phlebo in the past but didn't want to pay the big bucks for one of my own that might be broken or stolen on the ambulance. I found this one on Amazon and it looked decent compared to other models but the price was as high as I can afford so I ordered it. When i opened the box i was pleasantly surprised at the high quality, comparable to the ones $400 and up. The light is very bright and the veins are clearly visible. I am a paramedic and I have used the vein probe twice when my I absolutely could not see or feel a vein on my patient and they really needed an IV. Using the opening for the catheter takes a little getting used to, you almost have to have another person holding it.
