The color is nice and rich, and its made very sturdy. I really enjoyed it, EXCEPT the case did not have a sleep/wake mode on the case that holds the Kindle itself. That, and the fact that the colors are limited, are my only complaints. It's a really nice item. If you don't use your Kindle as much, then it would be nice to have the portfolio for added protection plus it just looks handsome and appropriate when out and about. If you are an avid Kindle user like me, the lack of the sleep/wake feature will really bug you. I hated the smell. As stated by other reviewers it does stink (got the red one). It smells like stink bugs, just as other reviewers have stated. When I got mine I had a terrible flu virus and was so miserably stuffed up and I COULD STILL smell the stench of this thing. That said, I took the pieces out, placed them in a box with a charcoal briquette (not touching the case!), and then took the box outside to our storage shed until I was over my sickness. Two weeks later the stink was tolerable. Now, it's been maybe a month, and unless you stick your nose right on it you can barely smell it. I love the color enough to have put up with the "wait for it to stop stinking" but if I had it to do over... eh... black is nice too and they say it doesn't stink. As other reviewers have said, it is bulky, but very attractive and will protect my 7" HDX very well. It was easy to put the HDX in it and I can leave it on a desk or shelf at a good angle, and charge it and connect it to the charging cable whille I am watching video. as I often use my tablets to watch video or listen to audio while working with my hands or workin at the computer, this is important to ne. Of course, thank you Amazon for making this possible by the design of the HDXI am , in a way sorry it is not just a little bit bigger and able to hold a charger, or at least a charging cable. I also comes with a stylus pen. I have always ugly plastic cases for my Kindles and this one is lovely and sturdy.It looks like leather and is well made.
