    Moneys Worth

*by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2008*

i bought this product and tested it in my pool. i have a canon a530. i learned that its best to unscrew the lens cap when taking pictures outside of the water, since a drop of water on the lens messes up all of the pictures. you will find out when you copy to your computer that the pictures has a drop of water on it.second, always set the camera settings before going under water. the bag will not let you change settings since its hard to read through the plastic bag. you can rip the bag if you try to move the settings dial on this camera. compared to underwater cameras that are about 20 dollars. i got my moneys worth. i went to atlantis resort in the bahamas and recorded all videos. some had drops since i was mainly in the pool. i also went on a disney cruise snorkeling in castaway cay. i set the video then snorkelled and recorded fishes, and family. the bad part is the black part of the bag got in the way so my videos have the black ring of the lens cap. i could not see what i was recording since its hard to see through plastic while its sunny out. my settings in my camera changed while recording but i did not notice since its hard to see the video screen. i took so many videos and photos that i got my moneys worth. its better than the disposable underwater cameras.oh, it never let water inside the bag.

    Underwater Shots

*by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2009*

I was going on a trip that would have snorkeling as one of the activities and I wanted to be able to take pictures underwater. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I settled on a case I could use for a small point and shoot camera, a Canon A570.This case proved to be easy to set up. To use the case, drop the camera in the case and seal it. There are triple seals to keep out water. The first is a zip lock type seal that is the main barrier against water entry. The end of the case is folded over and closed with a Velcro seal and the folded again with another Velcro seal. The seals worked and I did not have any water get inside the case. The case includes a strap and I hung the camera around my neck while snorkeling. There is sufficient air in the case such that it floats.Using the camera inside the case took some care. My camera has a lens that extends when the camera is turned on. If the lens is not centered over the extension in the case, it will hang and not extend fully when the camera is turned on. So the first step was always to center the lens with one hand and turn on the camera with the other. The camera can slide around in the case as there is nothing to fix it in position. The plastic case is heavy enough that I found it difficult to operate the zoom lever as it is located near the rolled up end of the case. Buttons are much easier to push, although it does take some effort.I did manage to take lots of pictures underwater and they turned out OK. At the widest zoom, the end of the case shows in the picture as a black ring. Once you are underwater and try to take pictures out of the water as well as underwater, drops of water remain on the lens part of the case and show up in pictures taken with the camera out of the water. All in all this case performed as expected and considering the price, it does a great job. If one is considering doing a lot of underwater photography, then a hard case might be a wise investment, but for a trip and casual use this is a useful item.

    Worked, sort of

*by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2012*

We took this case scuba diving in Cozumel; BIG mistake. Our dive master was taking pictures when he noticed water had seeped into the case. I'm not sure if it was because I had not sealed it properly or because we exceeded the depth limit by over 30 feet. While we were able to save the card, the camera was dead. After drying everything thoroughly, we took it snorkeling with a new camera inside. Everything worked perfectly. It's a little difficult to manipulate the camera controls inside the case but, if you are careful, you can make everything work. Just be very careful about sealing the case and DO NOT exceed the depth limit.
