For us, it was a major purchase, costing a dollar, for which you could in those days get a whole bag of "penny candy" and a Coke. Like that jerky, Robertson's is thin, dry, and tastes like dried beef and wood smoke. That's a good thing, by the way, in a world where "jerky" has come to mean cloyingly sweet, soft, gummy, and flavored like anything except meat. Unlike many attempts to make "old fashioned" jerky, This is neither too salty nor too spicy. As I mentioned, it tastes like dry beef, which is what I want.
