Of the three demons one has a buffalos horns on his head andis battling with a sword and shield, another, the head of a wild boarand a bow and arrow in his hands, and the third, a tiger-like lookingform with a spear and a rod lying around his figure overpowered by thegoddesss lion. Though a great masterpiece and unique in portrayingforce, especially as it reveals in the action of the goddesss lion in its raised tail and fury on the face, it does not have that levelof serenity, naturalism and pastoral quality as defined the apex ofKangra-Guler art of around 1770-1800 A.D. Based on one of the most venerated sectarian text known as theDevi-Mahatmya that seeks to describe Devis exploits, the paintingrepresents the goddess Durga combating singly with three ferociousdemons. With cushioned armour and a dome-like styled tall helmet puton her person the goddess looks as does a warrior in battlefield. Inthe entire range of the Devi-paintings, especially those portrayingher in action against demons, this armour-clad image is queerlystrange and rare. She is carrying in her hands sword, trident, mace, bow, arrow, shield, noose and a diamond-studded circular cutter. Herlion has already held one of the three demons in its jaws and thedemon seems to have completely ## Features - Material: Water Color Painting on Paper - Artist : Kailash Raj - Dimensions: 11.8 inch X 8.8 inch ## Images ![Lion-Riding Durga Killing Demons - Water Color Painting on Paper - Artist : Kailash Raj - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91lIJU6-IYL.jpg) ![Lion-Riding Durga Killing Demons - Water Color Painting on Paper - Artist : Kailash Raj - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51CWTW62jVL.jpg) ![Lion-Riding Durga Killing Demons - Water Color Painting on Paper - Artist : Kailash Raj - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51aTcrW8lNL.jpg) ![Lion-Riding Durga Killing Demons - Water Color Painting on Paper - Artist : Kailash Raj - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51sIcBkrJ0L.jpg) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/10271791-lion-riding-durga-killing-demons-water-color-painting-on-paper](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/10271791-lion-riding-durga-killing-demons-water-color-painting-on-paper) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-04*
