Review: Works great if used correctly - Do not power this lock from an unregulated 12VDC wall wart — many output 15–16 V under light load and will cause overheating. Use either a regulated 12VDC supply or an unregulated 9VDC wall wart rated for ≥400 mA, which will sag to ~11–12 V under load. The lock draws ~180–200 mA continuously in real use.
Review: Totally not using this for its intended purpose, but it's awesome - I picked up 3 of these, one to build into my workbench, and two to build into my welding table. They do an amazing job of clamping things in place while I grind, drill, etc., and don't require very much power so I was easily able to find old 12V 1A wall warts to power them. I don't expect the plastic body to hold up forever, but I don't care given the price.

Do not power this lock from an unregulated 12VDC wall wart — many output 15–16 V under light load and will cause overheating. Use either a regulated 12VDC supply or an unregulated 9VDC wall wart rated for ≥400 mA, which will sag to ~11–12 V under load. The lock draws ~180–200 mA continuously in real use.

I picked up 3 of these, one to build into my workbench, and two to build into my welding table. They do an amazing job of clamping things in place while I grind, drill, etc., and don't require very much power so I was easily able to find old 12V 1A wall warts to power them.
