I assumed that we had a horrible problem with formaldehyde outgassing in our home! The next morning we were cooking pancakes and it started reading very high again. Then it settled and the same thing happened with dinner. It seems very sensitive, but sensitive to smells/food, not formaldehyde (the unit was no where near the kitchen.) We live in a 12 year old home that is very tight and I wanted to make sure that we don't have a problem because of some health issues that I am having. I can't tell from this unit because it goes crazy when we cook. We are going to hire a professional company to determine the quality of our air.
