I found that I could reach inside and pin through the filler, then through the bottom of the duvet cover, and it worked just fine, without having little dimples show on the top from pinning through all three layers. Another way to undo the pin is to put a solid item behind the clear pinhead attached to your items, then push the key down firmly over the pin backer holding them together. The pin should release easily. I've found I can flip my stack of pinned blankets so the clear pinhead sits on top of the bedding on my mattress, then I push the key down firmly over the pin backer. This allows me to pull apart the pin. WHEW, thank goodness!!! I hope one or both of these methods work for you! **Q: Would the pins do any damage to a down comforter? I want to use them to secure a duvet cover to the comforter.** A: That is what I use them for and they are awesome!!! They do poke holes but they are not very big. About the size of those security tags that they use on clothing at stores.
