Review: As easy to install properly as any other Acoustic Saddle. - Great Quality Product with accurate description. Some final fitment required as should be expected. Final fitment will always ( OK ALMOST ALWAYS) be required for a saddle. The product offered here is accurately sized for the described fitment and only minor final fitment to the bridge and for desired action height is necessary. Definitely the best quality Bone I have seen available on desertcart so far. (First portion pasted from my other review from same supplier this one is for a different guitar and product but the same applies) This purchased for my Yamaha FG700s fits perfect, as before final fitment required. In this case +/- .5mm in length and height adjustment as desired. Was able to get to what I consider a perfect Action with great intonation. As with all things pertaining to guitar setup your results will vary based on skill level and time invested. Will not hesitate to buy again for any other guitars I work on as having a mostly shaped saddle significantly shortens the process and these are of great quality.
Review: Yamaha FG Junior JR1 and FG 331 - My guitar is a little Yamaha with Dean Markley Vintage Bronze Extra Lights. They are 10s. I can't tell if it sounds "better" but it does sound different, and feels nicer. I think maybe it sounds more even? Before my 3 low strings sounded way dead and quiet. I also can't tell if the guitar sounds any louder, but I think maybe it projects more? The overall sound sorta sounds like it has slight reverb now. I had to sand quite a bit off the height to get it as short as the stock plastic one, but it is thicker and wider than the stock, so it actually fills the slot in the bridge now. My stock plastic one measured 74mm X 2.8mm and is about 8.1mm tall at the tallest point. I sanded the new one down to about 7.9mm at the tallest point. I probably should have went with 8.0mm All my strings go slightly sharp at the 12th fret, but according to my tuner it looks like they all go sharp about the same amount, so soloing (which I don't do) would be a little bright. I never checked this with the old saddle, so I'm not sure if that has changed any. I had a guy make me some bone bridge pins (Size 4.2d slotted are correct for Yamaha) and he dyed them brown. I also sent him my bridge saddle to dye brown to match and it looks great! I liked this saddle so much I ordered another one for my 1980 Yamaha FG 331 that has had a plastic Martin saddle that didn't even fit right for the last 20+ years, but sounded and played nice. Now I am really amazed by the new sound! It's like a completely different guitar! The neck still needs to be set up, but the intonation is pretty close. It's very slightly flat at the 12th fret. I'm going to take both my guitars to a shop and have them both professionally set up. I want a bone nut for my full size Yamaha, and maybe an ebony nut for the little one just to be different? Maybe I will get bone for both?

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will it work for yamaha apx500 iii?**
A: I installed one in a 25-year-old Yamaha acoustic and it works great but I did have to sand it down so it was shorter and thinner. You should remove the plastic saddle and measure it first. If it’s close to the bone saddle dimensions you should carefully sand down the bone saddle until it fits properly without getting stuck. Good luck

**Q: Will this fit a yamaha fg-461s?**
A: Hello,

We looked at that model online, but saw different saddle types on different guitars. Please send an email to info@macnichol.com with a close up picture of your current saddle so we can see the compensation pattern, as well as the length/height/thickness. Or, if your guitar currently doesn't have a saddle, please let us know the length/thickness of the saddle slot. From this information we can let you know whether we might have a saddle that would fit.

**Q: Is this saddle available in bleached (white) as opposed to unbleached (yellowish)? Thx!**
A: Yes, please see: https://www.amazon.com/Bone-Guitar-Saddle-Yamaha-Guitars/dp/B07H5TBPSY

**Q: Will this fit my Yamaha A1M?**
A: It probably will but not without modification. On my Yamaha FG-TA it fit nice and snug thickness wise but I still had to do a little sanding off both sides because these saddles are generous in length and I had to sand some off the bottom to get the action I liked. It made my guitar brighter sounding.

So I bought 2 of these for my Yamaha FG840, and my Yamaha FG820-12. These are my thoughts. What was Yamaha thinking not shipping these guitars with bone saddles? Yes, with the plastic saddles, the guitar does sound well, but it left to much to be desired. The sound was bright, sounded thin and tinny, but it had a nice full sound, but strumming harder didn't give you any more volume. All I would hear Is the buzz from the strings. The guitar was great when I bought it but don't let the downside of the plastic saddle discourage you from buying the guitar. When the bone saddles arrived, they are oversized, which is to be expected, and the seller gives detailed instructions on how to sand down the saddle to make it fit in your particular guitar. It took about 10 to 15 minutes of sanding but I ended up getting the action of both guitars back to where they were when I bought the guitars. So the action is a little higher, but it's comfortable to play. After I got it done, I also put a new set of ebony bridge pins on my 6 string, but I'll review that later. The change in the sound on both guitars Is AMAZING!!!!! I swear after changing out the saddle that both guitars sound richer and fuller. There is more sustain, more bass response and a bell like chime and high end shimmer on the 12 string that I never heard when the plastic saddle was on it. The volume is much louder, even with a lighter attack on the strings. I am 100% satisfied with these saddles. Also the intonation is now spot on. My recommendation, buy this saddle, you will not regret it.
