If these cables are going to a large network switch you will have to come up with some type of labeling system for the multiple cable cables running to your network hub. Different color boots can be a major time saver. Remember you must put these on BEFORE you do any crimping of the RJ45 connectors and orient it properly for each end of the cable. For a bag of 50 the cost is miniscule, less than 10 cents apiece and they are substantial in thickness. Of course it is not like having a thermo molded connection. This way you make custom length cables that look pretty good and not have to worry about the connections bending with the boots on. Depending on the cable ends you buy, you may have this issue. The solution is very simple. Take a mini screw driver or drill bit, put it under the lever, bend the lever end down without bending the clip portion. Another locution is to use an exacto knife to cut the edges of the rubber so it raises higher but stil protects the clip.
