Review: Hands down. Buy them. - I wish these were more well known! I would've paid literally anything to prevent the accident that happened to my 2 year old. His thumb was nearly amputated by a door hinge while we were playing peek-a-boo and getting ready to go to the park. After two different ED visits, immediate surgery, and months inside a cast- they were able to reattach it and his thumb looks good as new. Thankfully! These guards are now installed on every door in our house. Front and back. They are super easy to apply and the matte version is hardly noticeable on my white, wooden doors. These have been on for months now and show no signs of coming off. They are also pretty thick! The only thing that may bother someone is that they pull on the door a little so the door doesn't stay open ALL the way. After our accident, I literally have zero complaints about these though. Buy the guards. Protect those tiny fingers. The guards are significantly cheaper than the hospital bills and the trauma that comes with it all. Worst. Day. Ever.

The glue 3M band on it eventually does not hold into the door so it does gets disconnected. You need to replace the glue once in a while or have a more persistent way to attach it to the door.

**Q: What material is this made of?**
A: A flexible plastic. I’ve had them on for a few months now with no issues, working great.

**Q: Can it be cut to size for a shorter door?**
A: It can be cut to size for a shorter door.  The plastic is thin enough to be cut with a good scissors.

**Q: Do I need to install this on both sides of the hinge to completely protect fingers, or will one side installation protect both sides?**
A: You could. But i ended up not using it because it was not possible for me to apply to the door. The plastic was too thick to bend that way. Also the way it came rolled up in a box....the plastic tend to stayed the way it came.
But to answer the question properly, you only need to cover half the length of the door from bottom up to about the middle hinge. Anything higher than that a toddler wouldn't. Couldn't reach anyways.

**Q: Is this product difficult to remove? Will it take the paint off of door?**
A: This product has a strong adhesive tape, and the force is even, so it is not difficult to remove. It will not cause damage to the surface of the door, and it will not make the paint peel off. Of course, if the paint on the surface of the wooden door is originally aging and peeling off, it will definitely take away some pieces of paint when removing the adhesive tape. Therefore, it is recommended to clean the sides of the door before using the product to make the surface smooth, and then stick the tape.
