Panzerjäger-Abteilung – Germany, 1945 (1:32 Scale) New Paint. Jagdtiger ("Hunting Tiger") is the common name of a German tank destroyer of WWII. The official German designation was Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf. B. The ordnance inventory designation was Sd. Kfz. 186. It saw service in small numbers from late 1944 to the end of the war on both the Western and Eastern Front. The Jagdtiger was the heaviest armoured fighting vehicle operationally used during WWII. Due to an excessive weight the Jagdtiger was continuously plagued with mechanical problems. In early 1942 a request was made by the Army General Staff to mount a 128 mm gun on a self-propelled armoured chassis. On May 18, 1942 Adolf Hitler ordered that the 128 mm gun be utilized in the tank destroyer role, rather than for infantry support. By early 1943 a decision was made to install a 128 mm gun on a Tiger II chassis as a heavy assault gun. Two prototypes were produced; a version with the eight road wheel Porsche suspension system (number 305001) and a version with the Henschel nine overlapping wheel suspension system (number 305002), as used on the production Tiger II. It was originally designated as Jagdpanzer VI, but was later named the Jagdtiger. It received the inventory ordnance number Sd. Kfz. 186. The Jagdtiger used a boxy casemate superstructure, with its sides completely integral with the hull's sides, on top of a lengthened Tiger II chassis. The resulting vehicle featured very heavy armour and the 128 mm PaK 44 L/55 gun, capable of defeating any tank fielded in WWII, even at very long ranges (over 3,500 m (2.2 mi)). It had 250 mm (9.8 in) armour on the front of the casemate and 150 mm (5.9 in) on the glacis plate. These are not Toys *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2015* First time buying Forces of Valor die-cast models. Not dissaponted, the features are great. These are not Toys! They are very detaled collector items. What a great way to study WW2 German armor. I've bem to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Have seen the real tanks & wow! The detail of these die-cast models is really good. There are many tanks trucks, canons etc. United States armor also. They cost more than plastic but so much better. I will be buying several more soon. Recommended for sure. My 9yr old son has started a collection and this one is by far his favourite; only because a T95 eludes him;) ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Good Jagdtiger, but lacks weathering and more detailing *by L***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2015* This FOV 1/32 Jagdtiger #201 represents the Jagdtiger commanded by Otto Carius, one of Germany's leading tank aces of World War II with over 150 kills.The Jagdtiger is approximately 12-3/4 inches long. Its features include an elevating cannon with movable barrel lock, movable treads, an opening commander's hatch with commander figure and diorama accessories. The workmanship and paint application are relatively good, but on the shovel, the brown paint on the wooden handle and the grey paint on the metal blade spilled onto the chassis itself which is sloppy paint application.Among the Jagdtiger's negatives are features missing that were on earlier FOV Enthusiast-series armor models. The most obvious omission is weathering (dirt, scrapes, etc.) on the chassis that was standard on the Enthusiast. This Jagdtiger #201 not only lacks body weathering, but also lacks weathered treads and wheels found on FOV's previous Jagdtigers.Another negative is that the rear exhaust vents on the Jagdtiger's rear deck are not perforated, but instead are solid plastic. 21st Century's 1/32 Jagdtiger has perforated vents, which make the model look more realistic, and Dragon's tiny 1/72 Jagdtigers also have perforated vents.Apparently, the missing weathering and perforated vents were budget-cutting measures. Also, the FOV's Jagdtiger's detachable spare treads located on the chassis and other chassis details are not as crisply sculpted as the 21st Century's Jagdtiger. The FOV's front-mounted machine gun does not move like the 21st Century's Jagdtiger.
