It's basically all the features of a big heavy tripod at about a 2/3 or 1/2 scale. I have a full side DSLR with telephoto lens, and it handles the weight easily. While it's not a micro tripod, it still folds down small enough to strap to my Camelbak when I day-hike or ride my bike (easy trails, not enduro). I'm ok hauling the extra weight to have a proper tripod, and I wouldn't take this for back country anyway. Again, everyting on it functions like the HUGE Vanguard tripod I use for my spotting scopes. The clamps, panning, folding, all very positive function.
