It's cheap. It has a clear vial and a pink vial that should read 1.00 and I check it every few months to make sure its still close. Same steps as a normal residual check The steps for every time you check the chlorine residual include a 'calibration' to the clear water before adding the packet. Step one turn it on, shows C-1 Step two fill the vial with water and put it in and press the button Step three, after it says C-2, take the vial out and add the packet.
