## Description

From the Manufacturer 6011 Welding Electrodes - Size 1/16 - 1LB. An all-purpose stick electrode for use in all positions on carbon and galvanized steel. 60,000 PSI tensile strength. Deep penetrating, ideal for welding through light to medium amounts of dirty, rusty or painted materials. Runs on AC or DCEP (reverse) polarity.

Review: Hobart welding rods are the best - Hobart makes commercial welders so I figured their welding rods are the best, so I order them, and yes they are smooth and great, I chose the 1/8” because of the thin metal that I was welding, but it worked great too. It’s been a long time since I welded but these did a great job for me.
Review: Great all-around general purpose rod for thin material, low output power supplies, or super portable use - 6011 is a great all-around rod. Blasts through paint, rust, and dirt(to a point). Great for out in the weather where a gas shielded welding process isn't an option. With proper technique, both relatively thick and thin metal can be welded effectively, especially if you can run downhill on thin metal. 6010 will do all of this, but 6011 will run on AC and on inverter machines that frequently will not run 6010. 6011 truly is a great all-around rod. These 1/16" rods do all of the above, they're just optimized for thinner material. Also great for running on smaller limited amperage machines, or where a standard 120v plug in is all that's available, or on limited generator power. You wouldn't want to make serious structural repairs with this rod, but sometimes you're in a jam and all you need is to get a quick repair done so that work can continue until the end of the shift. Being able to carry a tiny 120v lunchbox inverter welder on site, plug it into whatever power outlet is available, and make that repair quickly and easily can be worth a whole lot. Every facility maintenance tech should have a box of these around.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: In laymen terms do I hook this rod to the + or - my welder aint got AC?**
A: DCEP ... + used to weld through light to medium paint or rusted materials... 60,000 psi tensile strength... will run on AC also...

All positions on carbon and galvanized steel...

**Q: Have any larger boxes of the 1/16" 6011?**
A: At this time, we only offer the 1/16" size of the 6011 electrodes in the 1 pound box.

**Q: Is this rod good for welding exhaust pipe?**
A: 16 gauge aluminized steel is pretty soft. Your biggest problem is going to be blow through.
You might want to go 6013 for less penetration.
Stainless steel exhaust tube is another matter. This would definately be the wrong choice.
I would go with oxy aceteline,1/8 inch copper clad rod and a number 2 tip, long before trying to stick weld muffler tubing.

**Q: how many rods in this package (roughly)?**
A: Approx 29 electrodes per 1lb

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked better than HF version
*by R***C on September 15, 2014*

Decent quality for thin (1/16) 6011. Worked better than HF version. Starts ok (but not easy, at least for me). Restarts were decent. Burns fast, though. Good for sheet metal without blowing holes if not moving fast enough, giving you a bit more time to work it in (used to weld 2-pc 5/8" diameter solid pin hinges to 14 ga square tube posts for metal gate repair), where I figured 6013 or 7014 wouldn't penetrate deep enough. If you get the amperage dialed down (50A +/- 5A or so), it will still penetrate well and also produce a nice rippled bead with not too much splatter. For what I needed, using a 110V low amperage stick welder, it worked well. Lincoln FW 180 3/32", from HD, was just too much for my project.
