The color is right on, and looks good in our kitchen.The material is a good spongy type of rubber--think a mixture between jello and rubber. It's resilient, but still soft. We have a different mat in another part of the house that is more like a dense memory foam that compresses and takes a few seconds to reform. This mat isn't much like that at all. It springs back immediately, holding its shape, but is still cushioning.Our kitchen is all hardwood; any softening for the floor relieves a lot of pain from standing, which is exactly what this mat provides.
