Follow these Steps to create Your Own DWC System: Using 3” net cups by Floro as a sizing guide, drill a hole of about 2.75” through the center of the lid. The hole should be big enough for the pot to fit snuggly. Cut a second small opening of 2.5” at the upper of the bucket. The width of the opening should be optimum enough to fit the air pump tubing. Line the bucket with an opaque bag to block any light from entering to avert unwanted growth in the plant roots. Connect the airstone and the air pump with a tube. Place the air stone into the bucket and keep the air pump outside of the bucket. Allow the tubing to fit through the small opening of the bucket. Now fill the bucket with water and add the hydroponic supplements. Place a net cup into the opening of the lid. Transfer the plant into this net cup and fill it with the growing media of your choice, such as hydroton or coco coir. Place the lid on top of the bucket firmly. The roots should be dangling low enough to have access to the bucket water. If not, hand-water the plant until its roots grow long. To avoid the root from drowning, turn on the air pump. Beware that the lip is only about 1/8" wide though. I'm sure these are fine in a professional laser-cut hydroponics system, but if you are cutting your own holes in buckets for a DIY setup you'll need to be incredibly precise or buy different net-pots.The discontinued net-pots I previously purchased from a different seller had a 1/2" lip, and they worked great in the holes I cut.
