They have a rubberized sole. **Q: Does the shoe have suede lining?** A: I just checked my shoes this morning when I saw your question. Yes, it is a suede-like lining. Immediately inside the shoe lip there is a slicker material for about 1/2", then the suede-like material continues down to the inside of the sole and all along the bottom of the shoe inside. I'm a high school teacher with a formal dress requirement in my building and they dress up capris and skirts nicely without looking to matronly. They are very comfortable. I got a 12W and they fit well, my feet do not hurt at the end of the day, so there is good sole support. I have very low arches and the shoes do not bother me, so the arch is not too high. I've been wearing them several times a week for the last 8 weeks and the only complaint I have is that the heels have a couple worn spots where they rub together or bump on something.
