Review: Doesn't work without battery....Added an update to my review. - Please don't buy such an expensive unit It doesn't work without a Ni-Mh battery. Tried without it and it keeps blinking a red light and doesn't connect with the child unit. The unit came without a battery and the battery needed for it is very difficult to find and expensive too. Please also note the connector attachment. It's been a month and I haven't been able to make it work because I wasn't able to obtain such a battery. I wish the company could give us units which work with easily obtainable rechargeable batteries or without them. Updated: I ordered these to overcome the above problem. It's an expensive solution...so you guys can try if you want. The adapters I have noticed only support till 120v which is less if you are from India. So I bought two of these adapters for the child and parent unit: Omron AC Adapter for Omron Blood Pressure Monitors - 240 Volts https://amzn.eu/d/3o7vD6v They are from a good company and supply DC 6V and support upto 700mah (the parent unit only needs 400mah) and the best part is they can take power till 240v. The other thing I bought was batteries....they didn't come with the unit so bought new ones which came in a combo pack of 5, had favourable reviews, but were expensive. They connect automatically in a few seconds and they work flawlessly. They are working even through walls with one placed on the ground floor and the other on the first. No disturbance and static at all. With full battery it was told that they would work for 8hrs...so will need to check that out. I couldn't give it 5 stars because of all the hassle and the additional expense it took to make these work. What is the range?** A: Depends on how many concrete walls there are between two points. If it's open the range is a lot. If there are walls etc it won't link. **Q: Does the vtech dm221 baby monitor come with a universal adaptor ie 110v to 220v? can we use it in india with our 220v power supply?** A: We were not able to use this India because it needed a 110V adaptor **Q: Does it work if in different floors?? Like in a duplex house?** A: Yes it does... It catches signal if you place the device on the ground floor and the other one on the first floor.... And the signal takes seconds to catch it. Wish I noticed the pattern before purchasing. The connection is very loose. The pin is not compatible to India sockets. Works with converter but only switches on. Keeps blinking and beeping, but the parent and baby unit doesn’t stay. We bought this basis the reviews. I wanted a simple Audio monitor to hear my baby cry while still be able to close the door of her room, so that she doesn’t wake up from the noise outside. It’s pretty basic and V-tech seemed to be highly rated. Was absolutely disappointed. The set up is not that simple. Needed battery fixing and all. But all that is fine, if it worked fine once it got fixed. But it simply wouldn’t connect and once every few minutes it would connect for a few seconds and then it would disconnect.
