The flange seals and holds better on the sheet metal than just the regular nut provided in the kit. I also bought the matching stainless steel #8 bolts. The problem was that some of the nuts do not thread to the bolts. I had to pre-thread the nuts to the bolts before assembly so I knew they would work and then throw away the rest of the nuts that did not.
