The open design allows easy access to the USB/HDMI plug ports. I have never felt the need for an external mic and this frame exposes the three camera mics even more than the proprietary plastic frame. After testing, the playback sound is excellent. It comes with a 52mm UV filter which is extra protection for the lens. With step up rings I can use ND and CPL filters from my other camera lenses. Comparing the photos of this frame and other more expensive frames that look exactly alike I concluded they are all made in the same Chinese factory and labeled differently so I chose to spend 20 bucks not 32 bucks.
