Smooth, quick action one-hand operation clamp. Lightweight aluminum extrusion construction is straight, flat, and strong. Virtually no side-to-side movement as is common in other clamps. 2 Accessory T-Tracks are milled into the top surface of each side of the clamp. Measuring Rule is also mounte on top surface of the clamp. Clamps can be joined vertically or side-to-side to create a "back-to-back" clamp relationship. Clamp mechanism is heat-treated steel fo long wear and positive clamping action. While I haven't used it on the band saw yet(I'll get to that in a second)it has performed beautifully with both the power saw and jig saw. In one instance correcting for a sloppy t-square line that was clearly not straight.I can't compare this to competitors products because I don't own any and was afraid to try other brands because of the swivel head and multiple verifications you'd need to make sure they were locked straight. For the time being I just need to make 90 degree straight cuts and don't need anything else where I'll have to check for a true straight because of a swivel head. I can see where that might benefit others greatly though and I can see the benefit in that feature.Build -Feels really sturdy and seems like it will last for some time. I haven't found a real use for the ruler yet but I'm sure that will come in handy at some point later on. The plastic slide and grip on the back which does the clamping also feels like a sturdy plastic and not cheaply made.Ease of use -Very easy to clamp and use overall. I did find that the moveable piece that slides doesn't always come down smoothly and I have to slightly jiggle it sometimes to move it but I believe I've seen this comment on competitors reviews as well so it might just be the way they're designed? It's also intermittent which means it doesn't feel this way every time I use it just occasionally.It's by no means frustrating nor did I ever get the feeling it's broken and I should return it.Why 4 stars?I ordered 2 of these as mentioned above and while one worked fine out the box the other had to be returned to Amazon as defective. This is why I couldn't test out my fence and guide system with both as alluded to above. Luckily I was off this morning and dropped it off at UPS with a prepaid label Amazon supplied. No matter what I did it would not lock like the first which worked fine out the box. Amazon customer service has always been stellar to me and the return and replacement on the way was less than a 9 minutes minus the time to return the defective one to UPS for shipment back to Amazon.Would I order this again? About to order a 50 inch now after realizing how awesome and invaluable this clamp is. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well made, good quality straight edge and clamp *by M***G on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on July 1, 2014* I happen to own both this particular brand and the 'Bora' brand of guide fence and as a professional carpenter and cabinet maker this type and style far out performs the Bora in craftsmanship, ease of use and stability of grip. I bought the 3 set Bora some years ago and it has set in the corner of my shop since day two of ownership. The thickness of the aluminum straight edge and the quality of the gripping mechanism gives me confidence when cutting all types of wood.
