Sure, there is no break-in on this USB device which seems to be the main concern through users on this product, however if you are aware of how to break in a usb port while using some electronic grease, you will find that this device is very high quality, especially for its price!Pros:* The best thermal dynamics -- the solid aluminum design means the internal circuitry will always stay cool.* Heavy, not easily knocked from the desk -- this doesn't feel "cheap". There is a lot of weight on this device and it will power several charging phones at once.* All ports "worked" -- all ports were working, no issues whatsoever. The blue "data link" indicator was present on all ports and the test device I used (a memory stick) was able to be read on every port.* On-Off switch -- this is a very neat little feature with what seems to be a bus breaker in the event of a voltage overload. This unnecessary feature on this device isn't indicative of a $20.00 device but a $40.00 device.Cons:* You must break in this device and likely buy some electronic grease (non-conductive, non-corrosive lubricant). The ports on this device may have had some QA testing, but it was not with a real USB port, a contact rod, sure, but not a port. These ports are EXTREMELY tight out of the box and you MUST (read the other reviews) use a very sturdy USB device to help break in these ports. I would suggest plugging the device in at least 10 times to each port (using some wiggling motions) until each port is able to accept a USB connector like other consumer-grade products from retail stores. I did this and I can tell no difference between this USB device and the "Staples" USB 2.0 device this replaces (which has lasted a great 5 years).Speaking of that Staples device -- unlike these devices, this device having a chassis of solid aluminum, should have no heat issues. Commonly while charging something with the Staples hub, I would have my devices (a razer deathstalker ultimate keyboard, razer orborus mouse, and razer orbweaver game pad) randomly disconnect from windows and reconnect. During these times the contacts on the device were extremely hot. That device was made from a plastic case which acts as a heat insulator making built up heat hard to get rid of. This device has had no such issues after a good 24 hours of use and I get a great, solid connect to all of my devices without interruptions! ### ⭐⭐ A good design with a poor build *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on February 21, 2015* Pros: Shipped fast, nice looks, responsive support team, price.Cons: Ports are very "tight" resulting in broken a port, USB to Computer port as well as power port do not seat well (part of the terminals protrude from the body of the hub), requires a computer to charge USB devices, finish scuffs easily.This Hub looked like just the ticket for a project involving interfacing several iPad's with a Mac to use the Apple Configurator program. It arrived quickly and well packaged thanks to Prime shipping and seemed really well built. I had read in some of the of the reviews that the ports were obnoxiously snug when plugging USB A terminals into the hub but figured this was a rare manufacturing abnormally. I unwrapped the hub and tested the ports with a USB extension cable I had close at hand and all the ports seemed to function properly. The next day when I went to plug a half dozen USB-lightning cables in, none of them would fit properly. It was like the ports were blocking the cable's entry. A bit concerned I tried another USB A device and it too had problems entering the port. At this point I figured it would give it one more try with the lightning cable and it indeed seated into the port with a significant amount of force. I was able to plug three more cables in as well. When I connected iPads to each of the cables the #2, 3, & 4 ports all came to life while port #1 did not function. At this point the iPads indicated they were communicating with the Mac (GREAT!) but had the "Not Charging" error on the screen. I emailed GearMo about the charging issue and the "tight" ports and went back to work. As it turned out I didn't need the hub quite yet so i disconnected the iPads and cables. The reason Port 1 was not working became clear as the "inside" of the port came apart in the cable end when I removed it. At this point I had decided to send the hub back and seek a refund through Amazon. A few hours later I received an email from a support representative with GearMo informing me that the ports were charging at 1.5A but as Apple was not compliant with the USB BC 1.2 standard they would show an error (I was familiar with this behavior from other charging devices) and asking for more information regarding the "tight" ports. I briefly described the difficulty making in connections and that I would be returning the Hub. Over all I really liked the form factor of the device and I'm pretty sure the charging would have worked out fine. The difficult port connections and the port that fell broke up were just too much of a Red Flag to ignore so I will be seeking a refund from the manufacture or Amazon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's amazing stuff. It's mostly the Apple grade quality.- Wide base side hold any USB peripheral as SOLID ROCK even USB long neck LED light. I have never seen this amazing product before. Any other form of other products never stably hold long neck USB LED light.(Any other even metalic body of USB hub product never hold USB peripherals like this much. They always fall down or shaked unstably.)Simply say, objectively, it's cool.Regarding functional point of view,- Actually so far I haven't connect USB 3.0 peripheral yet, but with USB 2.0 extendsion cable or direct connection, works fine. Even Ipod shuffle charging also works fine.- Only one thing to bring up the power and data connection, you should follow the steps on the user manual about how to. (Since USB 3.0 is very sensitive(rather then USB 2.0 or older) to be linked up with mainboard.Simply, connect the hub to computer, and connect power adapter to the Hub, and boot up computer, then works fine. Only don't do too much of re-connect/disconnect while system linked.
