I live in a hot, dry climate, so I chose the silver color to reflect the sun. The vest works through evaporation so it may not work as well in a humid climate. It is extremely lightweight while dry, and reminds me of a lead vest used for x-rays when it is wet. The weight of the vest is not an issue while riding a bike. I haven't tried hiking with it yet.
