Fun, Responsive, Druable Nano Quadcopter
This is a great quad copter, it's a lot of fun to fly! And the quad being so small (the smallest I know of aside from military nano drones) makes it that much more interesting. The controller is fairly small but I got used to it and the quadcopter itself is very responsive. It took a day or so to get used to the responsive controls as well, to be able to make the minor joystick movements/adjustments need to fly the quad well. But ultimately the responsiveness and controls make the quad a lot of fun to fly and only take a day or so to get the hang of. And surprisingly, the Protox quadcopter that I received is very durable. I have had the Protox a few months now and have probably flown it a total of 15-20ish times and had 2 or 3 fairly serious wrecks/encounters with the walls ceiling and floor but the Protox is still working well. The Protox comes with a full set of extra props as the props seem to be designed to pop off the Protox when they hit things to prevent damage to the motors but it also makes the props hard to find some times. I noticed that the props occasionally get bent but are easy to carefully straighten by hand plus the extra four replacement props are included with the Protox as previously mentioned. I am very impressed and happy with the Protox quadcopter! Its controls take some getting used to but after that It's fairly easy and very fun to fly! And it seems very durable, at least the one I got is. I definitely recommend getting the Protox if you are interested in it, and especially to anyone interested in learning how to fly a quad or anyone interested in owning one of, if not the smallest quadcopter available (aside from military nano drone experiments).Edit:I forgot to mention that when putting the props on the motors of this protox quadcopter it is possible to press the props too far down on the motors this will not allow the motor to spin the prop which will prevent the quadcopter from flying. You'll get a feel for how far the props should be pressed down through trial and error also any carpet fibers or strands of anything might stop the motor if they get tangled around it, just some trouble shooting thoughts. I thought this would be good to add as the first time I pressed the props down too far I thought my rear motors had stopped working but really it was just the props installed too tightly once I pulled the props up a little bit the motors could rotate the prop again and it flew great.

So fun!!! for 2 charges...replacement on its way **UPDATED**
I will publish this review with the intention of doing a more thorough review later...once my replacement comes. I've had this nano quadcopter for just a few hours and no matter what I do I cannot get it to hover even remotely stable. It takes off quite stable but after just a few seconds in the air it slowly starts to drift backwards. When it starts drifting backwards I naturally compensate by pushing the direction stick forward for forward thrust, which it quickly responds to...but the longer it's in the air the worse the backwards drift gets, it's almost as if the rear motors slowly lose power over time while the front motors remain at 100% capacity. After about 1 minute in the air the backwards drift is so bad that I have to push the direction stick FULL FORWARD just to get it to stop. 100% thrust just to keep from going backwards is not how this product was intended to run. I've watched videos of dozens of other people flying there's and they have no problems with this whatsoever. I should also mention that I HAVE tried the trim functions and they have done almost nothing. No amount of trimming helps. However, this thing is still amazing and from the short amount of time i've been able to fly it (the day I got it) i've had quite a blast. I believe this is simply a faulty unit and am looking forward to another replacement Proto X. I got around 4 or 5 minutes of fly time and charge time was merely 15 - 20 minutes so it's pretty good for such a little thing. If the replacement unit functions properly it's going to be a great desk toy for my office at work.I will be updating this review once I get the replacement unit and I'm confident it will receive a better score (more stars) than this. *crossing fingers***UPDATE**I received a brand new Nano PROTO X 3 days after I submitted the return/replacement claim on Amazon (kudos to Amazon for such quick service). I charged the new Proto X quadcopter and spent a minute or two adjusting the trim and once I got it to a point that I could hover reliably I took off! It performed excellently, just as I was hoping it would. This confirmed my suspicion that the first Proto X quadcopter I received was flawed in some way. The new one performs perfectly and is so much fun! I would definitely recommend this little toy for anyone that wants just a casual quadcopter for a small office or just around the house. It does have a 2.4 Ghz controller so it is capable of flying outside if you want, but I found that even slight amounts of wind will blow it around quite a bit (it's barely bigger than a quarter so i'm not surprised) and since it's so small it gets hard to see at distances of more than 10-15 feet away. But like I said, it's wonderful for what it's intended for and so cheap! I almost want to get another one just to give as a gift or keep for a backup in case I have a bad crash.Anyway, I would give it 4 stars at this point. It would have been 5 were it not for the nearly DOA first unit, but I would not hesitate to buy another one. Easy to fly and learn, durable, charges quickly, cheap. Sounds like a Bee flying around, wife thinks "it's so cute!"

An Absolute modern marvel of nano technology! Oh, and what a great price!!!
I've been an r/c heli pilot for over 16 years and while at a recent "IT" (totally unrelated....but yeah, they had a room with toys:-)) conference, I had a chance to try one out. All I can say is WOW! I was so impressed with the amount of control I had over this tiny model. I can actually feel the similarity between this and real r/c helis (though this model is obviously much more forgiving in terms of flight and cost). Naturally, it was familiar to me even though I'd never flown one thanks to the use of standard controls. It has quite a surprising power to weight ratio and the maneuverability is impressive.Besides performance, I also love the bright blue/red led lights and the mosquito sound it makes as it flies past you ;-) You can easily fly it in your living room in complete darkness and it is so much fun. Battery lasts for about 5 minutes I guess so considering that it doesn't take that long to charge (15-20 minutes max?), I don't mind (what else can I ask for?).For those interested in getting into the r/c helicopter hobby, I'm actually thinking that this can be a good introduction due to its use of standard controls (power, pitch, roll, yaw) and flight dynamics. Not saying it is exactly like a heli, just saying that for the price, you'd definitely get the idea of what to expect when hovering and doing basic, easy flights with a heli.I'd highly recommend this quad to both beginners and advanced r/c pilots. Beginners will benefit from the forgiving nature of this model and advanced pilots will simply enjoy flying it. Both will benefit from the price! Great model for a great price!!Oh, I forgot to mention that I had to buy one for myself:-) I love it!

I really did like the proto x
I really did like the proto x, I picked it up from the recommendation of Tested, but the front left and back right motors went wonky 4 days in. They stopped giving proper thrust and rendered it useless. It could've been just a bad batch of motors. It's pretty cool how if you pair this little guy with a better remote you can unlock its full potential!Still, excellent bang for your buck!

amazing but won't last long
how do I rate this? it works! its wild to see! and it lasts for one afternoon! I didn't even crash much and TWO of the motors lost sufficient thrust to lift.if you want to spend $70 for an hour or a few hours of fun, this is for you. after that, it will be broken.

reliability issues
I purchased 1 of these quadcopter and used it a couple times before one of the motors stopped working. Amazon replaced the product and the same problem occurred with the replacement. I did not crash it even once and this problem occurred, I can't imagine a child using it who may crash it several times. It would be an extremely fun toy if it were reliable and durable.I would buy another only if they improved it's reliability.
