StinkyThis item arrived with a strong chemical smell, a lot like new car smell, which made me afraid to drink from it. So I tried boiling it in water for hours and washing with various soaps and cleansers with no success. Finally I tried baking it in an oven for hours which did seem to reduce the chemical smell... but then it absorbed odors from the oven which it now imparts to any drink you put in it. This is a known problem with silicone: it absorbs flavors and odors and you can't get them, except when they seep into your drink.Flaw 2. Poorly insulatedSilicone, although slightly better than glass or paper or plastic, is still not a very good insulator so this cup will not keep drinks hot or cold for very long. It will also feel hot or cold in your hand when you hold it. A vacuum insulated steel travel mug is much, much better.Flaw 3. SquishyThey've made it firm enough to be usable but a good solid travel mug which does not bend at all in your hand is much more pleasant to use.Flaw 4. LeakyThe lid does have a way to seal the drinking spout but it's not very secure. You cannot toss this in your bag without getting everything inside wet.It does have a couple of strengths too:Strength 1: IndestructibleVery durable. It will not shatter like glass or dent like steel or get crushed like paper or plastic. So if you need a cup which can survive a fall from a great height or being stepped on by an elephant, this might be the one for you.Strength 2: MicrowaveableYou can put it in the microwave to reheat after its poor insulation allows your drink to get cold before you're finished.Overall, I cannot find a case where I would use this stinky, poorly insulated, squishy mug over a vacuum insulated steel travel mug.Update: I found one use for it: room temperature water. That way the poor thermal properties and tendency to retain odors, flavors, and stains don’t matter. Also, I figured out I can clean it by pressure cooking it in my Instant Pot. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product *by M***M on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2018* Seems nearly indestructible. Lid seals well to the glass and the stopper built into the lid works well to keep fluids in the glass. Not sure how well it would stay sealed if dropped when full.
