I hiked about 3 miles up the volcano in Kauai and was fine. Also did a tubing trip and was good to go. The shoes have good bottoms and tread, but have spaces for the drain holes so you might catch a rock in one of those and feel it. I thought they did great. **Q: Why do the sizes say (for example) women’s 7.5/men’s 6.5. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?** A: The sizing for men is listed incorrectly. For instance, it says 12W/11M, but 12W is actually the same as 10M, both of which are European size 43. It appears that women’s sizes are correctly listed, and men’s sizes are not. Men should order according to their corresponding women’s size. **Q: I am a size 9. They only have 8.5 or 9.5. Should I get the 8.5?** A: Go for the 8.5. my simple learning experience was being a size 13 and their biggest being 12.5 fit me perfectly. relaxing fit and not tight at all **Q: will these keep sand from beteen my toes even the fine sand?** A: Yes it will unless the sand is ankle deep or deeper.... They shouldn’t cause any issues for people with more typical width feet. Even being snug, they are very comfortable. I had no blisters or sore spots, even after doing aqua therapy (physical therapy in a swimming pool) in them.The shoes drain and dry well. I’m mixed on having an insole in the shoe. The insoles are comfortable but they don’t dry out as well as the rest of the shoe. I take them out every time I wear these. I don’t want them to get musty and start to stink.
