The theme in my bedroom was fire - reds, oranges, purples, and black. The chair was sort of mauve gray/pink - I hate pink. I took a chance on this and estimated 3 cans to cover the chair... which was perfect. Chair is now burnt orange with little texture difference. I wouldn't use this product on expensive high end furniture (if you're getting that, why get it in a color you don't want anyway?), but it's great for little home projects like this. I sprayed the chair indoors using plastic wrap and a couple old towels to shield everything else and it worked just fine. Easy peasy. Not certain how well it would work on turning something dark lighter though, if you are, for instance, trying to use this color on something that is starting off black... The 3 cans narrowly covered the back and seat of a single chair. $40 to cover 2-3 square feet of upholstery fabric? But, a shop in town estimated $200 to re-upholster, so . . .I've also read that this is basically diluted water-based paint in an almost aerosol can.
