Even though it doesn't have all the bells, buttons and controls that the more expensive monitors do, it gives you the resolution to frame, compose, set exposure and focus. That is most of why one needs a monitor in the first place. You do have to play with the menu to get the display to match your camera LCD but that is not hard. For HDMI output on my Canon XA-10 it is plug and play. There can be feed back (some kind of audio interference) in the monitor from the camera so I have to keep a audio jack plugged into the audio output in the monitor to not have that interference come thru the speakers of the monitor. That is OK for me. Also there is an audio lag or echo in the audio out on the monitor from what is being recorded on the camcorder. So I split the audio coming out of the camera with a mini stereo splliter so that the person viewing the monitor while I shoot can have accurate sound. This lag does not happen during playback. I use this monitor for many things. First is having a second person watching what I am shooting (if I have the luck to have one there) so I don't miss something. I use it to review and catelogue my footage directly out of the camera, deleting unwanted clips and organizing my editing process. This keeps me off the computer for that process. I use it to show clips to people who don't what to see it on a computer (for EMF reasons) (my partner). And I use it to see what is happening when I am in front of the camera with my partner and there is no one else to monitor the camera. You will need to get a longer HDMI cable for some of these uses (6'). I highly recommend this monitor for all these reasons. They make many different monitor so you have to read the specs of all of them to get exactly what you want. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review for Pulling focus on a HDSLR only *by W***D on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on August 9, 2011* I use this monitor only for pulling focus on an HDSLR (canon 7D,and a 5D) when I can't have my eye glued to my Zacuto Viewfinder. Also, for sharing my view with an assistant pulling focus with a whip, a sound person just to see, or a client. It has worked very well for those tasks. The box it came in shows a different picture than the actual monitor i received. The one in the box has a jack input in the lower right corner where the logo is. Also, the playback sound worked once, tried it again and now it doesn't work. The picture doesn't seems as crisp as people are saying. Did anybody else experience this problem and could this be an older model? I've already contacted Amazon about returning it and getting a new unit.
