I took other posters' advice, and made sure to secure the lens cover in place with a rubber band to keep it stable, and I wrapped the top in duct tape because I didn't feel like taking any chances. No leaks, and my shots were as clear as they could be in murky Cape Cod ocean water. This is not a professional casing, (I would not take it scuba diving) and one shouldn't expect it to be at $30. But for fun pictures in the waves or at the pool, it's lots of fun. Just be sure to wipe off water droplets when you take above-water shots to avoid blurry spots. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible instructions led to the product's destruction *by F***Z on Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2015* The product is good and provides good seal. I actually used it in open sea and it kept my camera dry. It gets one star for a good job.However, the products instructions are written in terribly-poor translated english (see attached picture).However, the low rating is because the product comes with a rubber ring but with no explanation about what it is for whatsoever. It is not a tight fit so I though that if it would come off, it would get in the pictures so i didnt put it on. After a couple of very good pictures I realized that the UV filter that I use on my lens and that has a theeth-y finishing for grip has scratched the inside of the transparent part of the bag, As time went on that day, I was more worried on holding the front of the bag away from the lens to prevent deeper scratches than taking pictures.By the end of the day, the camera had problems focusing on subjects because of the scratches and it is a useless product by now. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Good item for the price *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2013* This camera bag is made with a decent quality. I purchased it as a test to bring my camera to the desert where there are frequent dust storms. I did not use this under water so I won't be able to speak to that. Although, it would appear to work just fine.My first mistake was no using the rubber bushing on my lens before putting my camera inside, this ended up scratching the glass cover. But this is my own fault. The bag itself worked great to keep the dust off the camera. Accessing the controls was a bit of a challenge, but I was able to do so, at least during the day time. The bag has four finger pockets that allow for better access to the lens, and shutter button. However, it was so tight around the lens that it was not at all easy to use manual focus. I would often accidentally hit a button on the back of my Canon 40D just trying to hold the camera and hit the shutter button.The main thing that I found was that the end of the bag where the lens glass is situated was constantly getting in the way of the shot, so I have an edge of the photo that has a half circle shadow obscuring it. This was really annoying. Perhaps this could be fixed by using a wider lens that fit the width of the glass better. I was using my Canon 50-200, which had the right length for this bag, but perhaps the 72mm is not enough to fill that end so the edge would fit better around it.I also found that the auto focus was somehow having a hard time focussing on low light shots. But this may have been due to the scratches that I had made, and it was trying to focus on the glass, instead of the shot. Switching to manual focus is possible, but cumbersome.The main gripe I have about this is that for low light shots, when there is a light source, or any light source for that matter, there was a glare from the glass, and it would ghost the light, and reflect on the lens. So definitely not good for shots with light sources in them.I think if you have the right size lens (something a little wider than 72mm at the end - the bag glass cap for the lens is 85mm so something just under that ), and keep it on Full Program [P] it may be fine for some underwater shots. The zoom will only work if it's contained inside the lens casing, the the lens needs to extend, it will not work in this bag.Overall, I think it's well made for the cost. And is more suitable for fully auto shots, rather than too much fancy stuff. I also think the quality of the glass is under par, although for the cost, I suppose I should expect too much there.it does the job of protecting the camera from the dust. However, I ended up using a make-shift large plastic ziplock bag (the kind with the zip slider) - cut a hole the size of the lens, and duct taping it to the lens filter. This worked perfectly for the conditions, and allowed for much better quality shots.
