I replaced it with a shallow glass dish I already had and it's worked out very well.This has a dimmer switch so you can adjust the heat and therefore the scent distribution very well. I tend to turn it up 3/4 of the way, let it heat, and then turn it off and let the scent continue to fill the house as it cools.The vase part that encloses the light bulb is fixed to the mirrored base, which has 3 very sturdy plastic feet. The shallow dish on top is removable and - surprise! - will break if you drop it. So don't drop it. :)I use it for wax melts rather than oil and it works perfectly. However, the item arrived with one of the β€œlegs” on the bottom broken off. When I went to stand it on the counter I see it tip to one side. I turn it over and the one little foot is missing. I found it rolling around in bottom of box. I’ll glue it on it’s not worth paying to ship it back but it’s definitely a disappointment. Also, it showed as being delivered directly to a resident and that was untrue. The feet are hot glued to the bottom, which has an excessive amount of hot glue surrounding them, making this entire product look cheap. It works well, with an adjustable knob for the brightness of the bulb, and it heats oils well, but I feel this was a defective product that this seller probably bought in bulk for SUPER cheap, made half a$$ed repairs to, then is selling on Amazon.I would likely purchase it again for MYSELF, to use in my PERSONAL bathroom and/or bedroom however, I would NEVER buy this as a gift for someone... nor would I have it *out* where visitors to my home could see it.UPDATE: When I purchased this product, I paid $12.50.
