These hard crackers are longlasting, and as such are used during military campaigns in place of perishable foods. They are included in every military ration, and known as Panzerplatten - Armour Plates. The recipe and packaging of these German 'Panzerplatten' Crackers provide resistance to environmental influences such as humidity, heat, and cold. Ingredients: Soft wheat flour, sugar, partially hydrogenated sunflower fat, glucose, salt, raising agents: (sodium bicarbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, sodium metabisulfite). These Panzerplatten crackers are well known in Germany, both with civilians and servicemen.

Review: Almost 6 years later, my honest review. (pretty good) - Honestly, I bought these so many years ago, and when I started making my own, I forgot about them. However, recently I looked in my hardtack container and found one package of these remaining under my homemade pieces. I guess I was saving it for emergencies. Regardless, I want to give an honest review now that I've tried and made traditional hardtack. I enjoyed these. My packages were not broken and remained sealed; even the one that has been in the container all this time is in good condition. Unlike traditional hardtack (I've noticed), this product was dry but also easy on the teeth. The flavor reminded me of an animal cracker, but without the intense sugar. It's caloriedense, but I never really paid attention to that in the beginning. As for value for money, I'm kind of on the fence. On one hand, the product is already made, sealed, and ready whenever. On the other hand, for the same cost of the 4 packages, I could make more of my own than the 4 packages combined that last just as long (though I don't know about calorie count). I'm sure with enough digging, I could make something pretty similar in taste and hardness, but if you're someone who is getting into products like these but doesn't know how to make stuff like this, then go for it and purchase this because they're good. but also, look on youtube or forums, heck many books have their own recipes.

Honestly, I bought these so many years ago, and when I started making my own, I forgot about them. Well, these were not as fresh nor were they vacuum sealed like the "Survivor" brand NATO biscuits, however, they were still fine to eat. They took a long time to arrive, but given the distance from which they came, I'll let that one slide. The expiration dates were a bit closer than I would have liked. In all, though, they were very good and filling. I highly recommend peanut butter on them. They make them just that much better! I imagine Nutella would be awesome too. These are VERY filling and great for survival rations or if your low on food and need lunch for work! YES! I recommend the product, but wish they'd get the vacuum sealed ones. These are good, but THOSE tasted like they were fresh from the factory!
