Does this really need weights to hold top down when in normal, table installation?** A: The gas springs are indeed 300 N (which translates to 67ish lbs), but that is the force at the spring. Because of the cantilever of the lift mechanism, the tabletop exerts more force on the spring in the down position. I tested it and even about 3 lbs of weight per hinge will hold it closed. When it's open, most of the weight is borne by the metal struts (and the locking latch which can hold it place). I haven't figured out what the max weight is, though it would be closer to 67 lbs per hinge, as the lever is much shorter when the hinge is fully extended. Also, as the hinge has a lock-in-extended position, if you engage that, the max weight of the table would depend more on the strength of the metal pieces locking it up, rather than the gas spring. **Q: How far does the top move forward when opened i.e. distance it travels?** A: 6 inches **Q: How much does the table go up when opened?** A: Product description says 8" up and 5" forward. Worked great for client. **Q: Any idea what the max weight a table top can be for this to still lift easy?** A: I think I read somewhere that the max weight is 162 lbs. That would be massive.
