The objective has 90.5mm working distance (WD) and 22-5.5mm field of view (FOV) for examining specimens. A gemological microscope uses transmitted and reflected light to view gemstones. The microscope has brightfield upper (episcopic) illumination that reflects light off the specimen for enhanced visibility of opaque objects, and lower (diascopic) illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects.
