I own a dozen Apilco 12 inch plates. I was seeking to increase my number of plates so that I could host a large Thanksgiving dinner. At $95 EACH the Apilcos are way out of my price range (they weren't so expensive when I bought them years ago). After searching high and low for 12 inch plates, I found these. They are much heavier than the Apilcos but look fine right next to them. One really can't tell the difference as the are the same bright white color, the rims are the same width. These are much thicker but one doesn't notice this once the table is set. Like all 12 inch plates, these won't fit in most dishwashers and maybe not even in the kitchen sinks of most people (mine included). The bottom rim is rough from the kiln, not smooth like my other dishes. When stacked these plates will likely scratch each other. I store them with a thin paper plate or a paper towel between them to prevent this. To close, these are very nice plates at a terrific price.
