Both wood trims are very attractive, but there are shortcomings. The felt backing is not glued down very well on either blotter. I almost pulled the entire backing off the mahogany one when switching it out with the new cherry finished desk pad. It was easy enough to stick back on but the new cherry desk pad's felt backing is equally as flimsy and already peels away from the blotter in places. The felt backing may also leave desk marks if left in place for extended periods. Not only did the felt rip away from the blotter when making the exchange, but it also left fuzz stuck to the desk.Another shortcoming is price. A few years ago, my first purchase cost about $25. I was flabbergasted to see current Rolodex prices for wood-trimmed desk pads. This cherry was marked down on Amazon to $25, so I bought it. In all honesty, neither desk pad is worth much more than that. Perhaps the reason this cherry one was discounted is because the blotter is slightly warped. It doesn't lay entirely flat on the desk. I'm disappointed about that, but hope time and heavy objects laying on top of it will help diminish the warp.The black blotter on the cherry desk pad is a bit harder and thinner than the mahogany wood one, which sits underneath an all-in-one desk top here. I use this harder surfaced cherry desk pad for writing purposes, and it works well for that.If you can find these at a reasonable price, they're attractive and for the most part, functional. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Just OK *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on November 6, 2012* Surface was harder than expected.
